    Ingredients Filling:

    50 g chopped chicken

    10 pcs tofu

    100 g carrots, cut into matchsticks

    100 g white cabbage, thinly sliced

    100 g bean sprouts

    20 g leek, thinly sliced

     

    Ground spices :

    30 g shallots

    20 g garlic

    20 g curly red chili

    20 g sugar

    7 g salt

    3 g white pepper powder

    5 g chicken stock powder

     

    Tofu Coating:

    100 g wheat flour

    10 g garlic, pureed

    3 g salt

    5 g chicken stock powder

    125 ml of water

    150 g breadcrumbs

Tahu Krispi cannot be more perfect. They are small tofu puffs stuffed with the most mouth-watering filling. The term "krispi" is a direct translation of the English word crispy, as the tofu is coated with breadcrumbs for that crunchy sensation. Now you can see why it is popular in Indonesia as a snack or as any meal companion.

Instructions

  1. Making the Tofu Filling and Dipping Batter

    • Puree the ingredients: shallots, garlic and red chili then sauté over medium heat for 5 minutes or until fragrant. 

    • Then add the minced chicken and stir until the chicken is cooked.

    • Then add the carrots and cabbage. Saute until all the vegetables are wilted and then add bean sprouts and spring onions.

    • Add sugar, salt, white pepper and chicken stock powder. Then stir until all the ingredients are well mixed and all the vegetables are wilted. Remove and set aside.

    • In a medium sized bowl add these ingredients: wheat flour, garlic puree, salt, chicken stock powder and water. Then mix all the ingredients until there are no lumps. Set aside.

  2. Making Crispy Tofu

    • Cut the sides of the tofu, then remove the tofu contents and fill the tofu with enough stuffing. 

    • Prepare a bowl for the breadcrumbs.

    • Dip the tofu in the dipping mixture until the tofu is fully coated, then coat it with breadcrumbs.

    • Fry the tofu until golden brown. Then remove and set aside.

Plate and Serve!

Prepare a serving plate, arrange the tofu and serve.
