Singkong Sawut Gunung (Cassave Mountain)

In the south of Indonesia lies a dessert that will make your stomach sing! Made simply with three ingredients –cassava, brown sugar and salt –the Singkong Gunung (Cassava Mountain) is so named because it is served in the shape of a mountain. Allow the rich, sweet flavors to melt in your mouth with a cup of warm tea.

Instructions

  1. Grate and Steam

    • Grate the cassava, let it sit and add a pinch of salt. In a steamer, add in the grated cassava. 
    • After a few minutes, add in the grated palm sugar, plain sugar and pour in the remainder of the grated cassava.
    • Cover with lid to cookunder low heat.

  2. Shape cassava

    • Once the cassava is cooked, mix the cassava and the palm sugar evenly. Then spoon and placeinto a cone-shaped stainless steel mould.

Plate and Serve!

Plate the cassava onto plate and add the grated coconut and serve
