  • 300 g Beef, cut into 1 cm cubes

    20 g Shallots

    15 g Garlic

    15 g Turmeric

    4 g Coriander

    200 g Grated Coconut

    2 g Salt

    4 g Sugar

    80 g Big Red Chilies

    17 g Sweet Soy Sauce

    50 ml Cooking Oil

    Skewers

     

    15 g Red Cayenne Pepper, thinly sliced

    15 g Green Cayenne Pepper, thinly sliced

    20 g Shallots, thinly sliced

    1 Lime

    5 g brown sugar

    100 ml Sweet Soy Sauce

Sate Kelapa Daging Sapi

Sate Kelapa Daging, or Sate Klopo, is an Indonesian meat skewer dish commonly served with spicy soy sauce. Tender chunks of beef and beef fat are marinated in spices and grated coconut (known as Klopo in Javanese) for a distinctly rich flavor. It is then grilled to make a delicious dish that can be enjoyed with rice cakes.

Instructions

  1. Marinate beef

    • In a blender, add shallots, garlic, turmeric, coriander, big red chilies. Blend well.
    • In a saucepan with some oil, sauté the blended spice paste until cooked and fragrant with oils released.
    • Add salt, sugar and grated coconut. Stir well and set aside to cool.
    • In a bowl, add meat, sauteed paste, sweet soy sauce and mix well. Once evenly mixed, let it sit in the chiller for about 30 minutes.

  2. Grill meat

    • Thread about 4 – 5 pieces of meat into each skewer and grill them well in a griller.
    • Turn the skewers frequently to ensure even doneness on each side. Brush the skewers with marinade for added flavor. Grill according to desired doneness.
    • In a bowl, add both red and green cayenne peppers, shallots, lime juice, brown sugar and soy sauce. Stir well.

Plate and Serve!

Serve the satay skewers with spicy soy sauce on the side.
