    110 g Yellow Noodle

    2 pcs Eggs

    1 pc Mustard Greens (cut it into 2 segment of finger)

    50 g Cabbage

    4 pc Cayenne 

    500 ml Water

    Ground Spices (A):

    3 cloves Garlic

    3 pc Candlenut

    20 g Shrimp Paste

    Seasoning (B) :

    2 tsp Seasoning Powder

    ½ tsp Salt

    ½ tsp White Pepper Powder

    2 tbsp Sweet Soy Sauce

    ½ tsp Sugar

    Crackers

    Fried Onions

Javanese-style noodles, or Mie Jawa, is an ubiquitous Indonesian dinner dish in Central Java and Yogyakarta. Commonly sold by both street vendors and restaurants, this savory yellow noodle soup is usually topped with shredded chicken and is famous for its authentic roasted taste as it is cooked over a charcoal fire. Enjoy this simple dish soupy, ‘godhog’ style, or with reduced soup, ‘nyemek’ style.

Instructions

  1. Make spice blend

    • With a blender, blend all the ground spices in (A) until smooth.
    • Sauté the spices in a pan with some cooking oil until fragrant. 
    • Remove and set aside.


  2. Cook noodles

    • In a pot, blanch the yellow noodles. Remove and set aside.
    • In a medium saucepan, add water and bring it to a boil.
    • Once it comes to a boil, add in the sauteed spices and reduce the heat.
    • Add in all the ingredients except the eggs.
    • Add in the seasoning ingredients in (B) and mix well.
    • In a small bowl, break the egg and mix well.
    • Add in the egg into the saucepan and stir well.
    • Once the egg is cooked, remove saucepan from heat.

    When Mie Jawa is cooked, it should be directly eaten or served because if not, noodles will expand and not good to be eaten.

    | Other than yellow noodles, you can change with kway teow.

    Cook noodles


Plate and Serve!

In a serving bowl with some noodles, pour in the soup broth and sprinkle with some fried onions and crackers at the side. Serve.
