Telur Kecap is an easy and tasty dish which only requires basic ingredients to make. Sunny side up eggs cooked with kecap, a sweet soy sauce that is well-loved in Indonesia, this simple dish also features other fragrant seasonings and spice to make it nice. With a well-balanced mix of savory, sweet and spicy, this dish can be enjoyed with a bowl of warm rice for a simple meal.

Directions

  1. Prepare the kecap sauce

    • Over medium heat, heat up some oil.

    • Stir fry the shallots and garlic until fragrant and caramelised.

    • Add in chilies, leek and sauté well.

    • Add water, soy sauce, fish sauce, oyster sauce, sweet soy sauce, chicken powder, white pepper. Mix well.

    Prepare the kecap sauce


  2. Add the eggs

    • Add in the sunny side up eggs and simmer till the sauce reduces and is absorbed into the eggs.
    Add the eggs


Garnish and serve!

  • Garnish with fried shallots and serve.
