    7 g worcestershire sauce

  • 40 g palm sugar

  • 250 ml tomato sauce

  • Sauté:

    30 g butter

  • 15 g garlic (pureed)

  • 30 g onion (sliced)

  • 2 g beef powder

  • 50 ml water

  • Crispy mushroom:

    250 g oyster mushroom

  • 600 ml cooking oil

  • Batter:

    150 g wheat flour

  • 10 g garlic

  • 4 g white pepper powder

  • 8 g chicken powder

  • 7 g salt

  • 5 g baking powder

  • 1 egg

  • 400 ml water

  • Flour coating:

    100 g flour

  • Optional for garnish:

    Parsley

Battered oyster mushrooms deep fried to golden brown perfection, these crispy delights offer a satisfying crunch with each bite. For extra flavor, drizzle it with sweet and spicy BBQ sauce. It would be hard to resist finishing a whole plate on your own for teatime!

Directions

  1. Prepare the barbeque sauce

    • Preheat a pan on medium heat. 

    • Sauté the butter, garlic and onions until the onions have softened.

    • Next, add the beef powder, water, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, mustard, chili powder, paprika powder, water, apple cider vinegar, palm sugar, tomato sauce. Mix well to combine. 

    • Cook for about 3 mins, then remove from heat and set aside.

    Prepare the barbeque sauce


  2. Prepare the batter

    • In a mixing bowl add wheat flour, garlic, white pepper powder, chicken powder, salt, baking powder, and water. 

    • Crack the egg into the mixing bowl and whisk until all ingredients are well combined. Set aside.



  3. Prepare the crispy mushrooms

    • Dip the oyster mushrooms in the batter, then coat them with flour.

    • Preheat a pan with cooking oil on medium heat for about 10 minutes, then fry the mushrooms until golden brown. 

    • Lay the fried mushrooms on a paper towel to remove excess oil.

    Make sure the oil is hot before frying the mushrooms.

    Oyster mushrooms can be replaced with Enoki mushrooms.

    Prepare the crispy mushrooms


Plate and Serve!

  • On your serving plate, arrange the mushrooms and drizzle with barbeque sauce. 

  • Garnish with parsley leaves and serve while hot.
