500 g aloe vera
1 tbsp whiting
1 tsp salt
1 L water
Syrup ingredients:
500 ml water
200 g sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
2 screw pine leaves
10 mint leaves
Peel the skin off the aloe vera and place it in a bowl. Add the 1 liter of water, salt, and whiting.
Stir until the whiting and salt are dissolved in the water. Let it stand for 30 minutes, then strain and rinse with clean water until all the sticky residue of whiting is washed off.
Cut the properly cleaned aloe vera into 1cm cubes, store in a bowl, and set aside.
Whiting is used to reduce the mucus of the aloe vera.
In a saucepan, add the water, sugar, mint leaves, vanilla essence and screw pine leaves. Boil the syrup over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
Add the aloe vera cubes and boil for another 5-10 minutes, allowing the fragrance to permeate. Turn off the heat and leave to cool to room temperature.
Lime juice can be substituted with lemon juice.
