Red bean ice is a drink commonly found in Hong Kong. These drinks are usually served at dining. Taking inspiration from the popular Hong Kong drink, this is a drink to cool you down on hot summer days. With the nutty and earthy red beans paired with sweet, honey-like jackfruit, Es Kacang Merah Nangka is a drink that is filling and just the right amount of sweet. It is a delight to chug down after a long day, or for breaking your fast before moving on to dinner.

Directions

  1. Cut the jackfruit

    • Cut the jackfruit into thin strips and set aside.

  2. Cook the red beans

    • In a pan, add water, sugar, salt, red beans and pandan leaves. Cook over medium heat and bring it to a boil. Stir constantly and once the beans are tender, remove from heat and set aside.

Combine and serve!

  • In a serving glass, add ice cubes, red beans, jackfruit.
  • Top it up with fresh milk and sweetened condensed milk according to desired taste.
  • Serve.
