  • Serves 4 people
  • marinade:

    500 g boneless and skinless chicken breast (cut into 1-inch pieces)

  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt

  • ½ tsp turmeric powder

  • ½ tsp ground cumin

  • ½ tsp black pepper

  • ½ tsp ground coriander

  • 1 clove garlic (minced)

  • pinch of salt

     

  • sauce:

    2 tbsp ghee

  • 1 medium-sized red onion (sliced thinly)

  • 1 tbsp ginger paste

  • 1 tbsp garlic paste

  • 1 tbsp ground coriander

  • 2 tsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp garam masala

  • ½ tsp turmeric

  • ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper

  • 4 green chilies (chopped finely)

  • ½ cup coriander leaves (chopped finely)

  • ½ cup mint leaves (chopped finely)

  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt

  • salt to taste

  • sugar to taste

     

  • 1 tbsp golden raisins (for garnish)

Green Chicken Tikka Masala

It’s interesting to note that Green Chicken Tikka Masala is not, in fact, green in color. The name however derives from the generous amount of aromatic herbs used in the sauce. Mint and coriander enhance the spicy sauce, balancing the rich Indian spices and the creaminess of the yogurt with their fresh herbaceous flavors. Top it off with a sprinkle of golden raisins to add a touch of sweetness in this flavor-packed dish

Instructions

  1. Marinade the chicken

    • Marinade chicken for ½ hour. Set aside.

  2. Prepare the sauce

    • In a large pot, add ghee over medium heat.
    • Add sliced onion and cook onion till golden brown.
    • Add marinated chicken, garlic, ginger paste and all the dried spices. Leave to cook until chicken is half-cooked.

  3. Add in yoghurt

    • Add chopped green chilies, coriander and mint leaves. Season with salt and sugar. Stir well.
    • Add yogurt. Stir well. Turn heat off.
    • Sprinkle golden raisins.


Plate and Serve!

Serve with rice or naan.
