Ingredients

  • Yields 10 sticks
  • 500 g pork shoulder

  • 10 pcs BBQ Sticks (bamboo skewer) 

  • 50 ml oil (for basting)

  • 60 ml pineapple juice 

     

  • pork marinade:

    120 ml soy sauce

  • 8 cloves garlic (minced)

  • 1 whole white onion (finely chopped)

  • 3 tbsp brown sugar

     

  • garnish:

    5 pcs chillies (chopped)

  • 2 packets sweet and spicy sauce

  • 15 ml vinegar with diced onions

Pinoy Pork BBQ

A Filipino favorite, these thinly sliced pieces of skewered pork are marinated in a seasoning blend before being barbecued over a grill and continually basted with oil to keep them juicy. Enjoy these with a plate of rice or as an appetizer but remember to make a load of them as these are addictive! And if you’re in need of a kick of flavor, it’s highly recommended that you serve these skewers with a cup of pineapple juice, sweet & spicy sauce, and vinegar with onion sauce.

Instructions

  1. Prepare and marinade pork

    • Chop the pork into thin slices (1cm in thickness). In a bowl, combine chopped white onions, garlic, soy sauce, brown sugar and mix well.
    • Marinade the pork and cover it with plastic wrap/cling wrap.
    • Place it in a refrigerator and allow it to marinate for 45 minutes.

  2. Grill the pork

    • Pierce the marinated pork with BBQ sticks.
    • Turn on the grill on high heat and grill the pork - continue to baste it with oil.
    • Grill for 5 - 6 minutes each side.
    • Once it is ready, place it on a serving dish.

Garnish and Serve!

Garnish it with some chillies (if you’d like to add a little spice into your dish) before serving. This dish is best enjoyed with a cup of pineapple juice, sweet & spicy sauce, and vinegar with onion sauce before serving.
