  • ½ Kg Large Prawns, shells intact and deveined

    6 Cloves Garlic, chopped

    2 – 3 Pcs Red and Green Chilies, sliced half

    2 Tbsp Parsley

    1/3 Block Salted Butter

    ½ Cup Banana Ketchup

    1 – 2 Tbsp Chili Sauce

    ½ Cup Sweetened Soda/Sprite

    Cooking Oil

    Salt

This beloved Filipino dish has a secret ingredient that’s hard to guess – soda or Sprite! Yes, it wouldn’t be Filipino Style Garlic Butter Prawns without the soda, which enhances the natural sweetness of the prawn and mixes well with the garlic butter sauce. It’s super easy to whip up as prawns only need a few minutes to cook through and it makes for a juicy, oceanic addition to any dinner table.

Instructions

  1. Stir fry garlic

    • In a wok or frying pan, stir fry the garlic until fragrant.


  2. Cook prawns

    • Add in the salted butter and let it melt. 
    • Add in the prawns and cook for 1 to 2 minutes or until it turns red.


  3. Add soda to pan

    • Add in the soda, cover the pan and bring it to a boil.
    • Lower the heat and let it simmer for about 2 to 3 minutes.


  4. Cook the prawns with sauce

    • Add in the banana ketchup, chili sauce, sliced chili and parsley.
    • Continue and stir for another 3 – 5 minutes and prawns evenly coated with the sauce.


Plate and Serve!

Serve with garlic chips and chopped parsley. Enjoy!
