  • 6 pcs
  • ½ cup soy sauce

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 tbsp grated ginger

  • ½ tsp minced garlic

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • 3 tbsp kicap manis

  • 3 tbsp corn starch

  • 3 packs pressed (or very firm) tofu

  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)

  • 2 tbsp spring onion, chopped (for garnish)

  • 12 pcs bamboo skewers (soaked in water)

Grilled Tofu Skewers

We love doing new things with old favourites, and tofu’s one of them. Skewered and grilled to perfection with invigorating ginger, garlic and sweet soy sauce (kecap manis), they make for wonderful finger foods. We think you might need to make even more.

Instructions

  1. Prepare marinade

    • Mix all ingredients except tofu, sesame seed and spring onion in a large mixing bowl.


  2. Cut tofu

    • Slice each brick of tofu into 3-4 strips(depending on thickness) and place in marinade.
    • Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.

    (You can cube tofu and skewer them in kebab fashion with tomatoes and peppers in between)



  3. Prepare skewers and grill tofu

    • Put skewer in one end of each tofu strip.
    • Grill tofu for 3 minutes on each side on a greased grilled pan.


Plate and Serve!

Top with sesame seeds and chopped spring onions and serve.
