for the board (in any amount):
bak kwa
mandarin oranges
mixed nuts
snacks
keropok or other crackers
sambal or chilli sauce
five spice apple compote, to go with the bak kwa (see recipe)
salted egg aioli, to go with keropok or crackers (see recipe)
five spice apple compote:
3 granny smith apples (you can peel them or not, but core them and cut into 1-inch cubes)
2 tbsp sugar
4 tbsp water
½ tsp five spice powder
salted egg aioli:
2 salted egg yolks (cooked and mashed)
6 tbsp Japanese mayonnaise
1 clove garlic (peeled and grated)
Compose your board, by laying the sauces in small dishes on the board. Arrange the other ingredients around the sauce dishes nicely. Serve!
