Getuk Singkong

Getuk Singkong is a sweet Indonesian snack that is commonly found in Central and East Java. Mainly made of cassava and palm sugar, it is also sprinkled with steamed grated coconut. Enjoy it for afternoon tea or as dessert after a satisfying meal.

Instructions

  1. Getuk Making

    • Peel the cassava, then cut it into pieces, then steam it over medium heat until the cassava is tender.
    • After the cassava is soft, mash or grind the cassava together with brown sugar until smooth then mix altogether by hand until everything is evenly mixed.
    • Weigh the getuk until about 100 gr and shape it into a conical shape, do it until the ingredients finish,

  2. Coconut Steaming

    • Put coconut in one bowl then add salt, stir it well and steam for about 15 minutes remove and set aside.

Plate and Serve!

Sprinkle both sides of the getuk with steamed coconut. Prepare a serving plate then place the getuk on it and serve
