Chocolate Ondeh Ondeh

Traditionally made with pandan leaf extract and filled with palm sugar, we have kicked the Ondeh Ondeh up a notch! Introducing the Chocolate Ondeh Ondeh, a perfect mouthful of glutinous rice balls plump with melted chocolate and coated with chocolate rice. Here’s a tip: eat it with your mouth closed or the precious liquid chocolate will squirt out all over the person next to you!

Instructions

  1. Make ondeh ondeh dough

    • In a medium size pot, boil water
    • In a bowl, mix glutinous rice flour, tapioca starch, cocoa powder and pinch of salt. Stir well to combine.
    • Add water little by little and using your hands,mix all ingredients until well combined.


  2. Form ondeh ondeh

    • Pinch a little dough mixture, roll it and flatten slightly on your palm. Using your thumb, make a little hole in the middle.
    • Add chocolate chips to the dough and roll it gently to form a ball. Set aside.


  3. Boil ondeh ondeh

    • Place rolled dough into the hot water. Leave to cook until it floats up.
    • Using a fine strainer, gently scoop the chocolate balls.
    • Place it on a plate till cool. Try not to place it close together as chocolate balls will stick together.


Plate and Serve!

Roll cooled chocolate balls on the chocolate rice. Serve immediately.
