Enjoy Holiday Feasts from These Home-Based Businesses in Jakarta

Celebrate this holiday season safe at home with your loved ones by having your festive feasts delivered straight to your doorstep, courtesy of these home-based food businesses.

‘Tis the season to be enjoying a glorious feast with your loved ones! Due to the recent pandemic, it might be safer to bring the holiday cheer to your doorstep this year. And that's not a bad thing, considering this delicious selection of festive menus from home-based food businesses across Jakarta. From their home to yours, here are 4 delivery options to help you ring in the festivities:

1. Cube Catering

Cube Catering by Chef Ivan Wibowo is a classic go-to for the holiday season. Their Turkey Roast set is the popular choice for large families, as it features a whole turkey and of course, a savory turkey gravy. It also comes with sausage and mushroom stuffing with cranberry sauce - a simple, yet decadent affair that tastes like holiday spirit.

Juicy turkey not your thing? Roast Beef, Roast Chicken and even Porchetta are available as alternatives, featuring their own version of hearty sides.

Another looker for your spread is the crowd favorite, Salmon Wellington. The crispy-but-soft indulgence comes with sides like roasted potatoes and charred onions, along with a creamy lemon butter sauce. A Beef Wellington option is also available, paired with Yorkshire Pudding as a yummy side.

To end the grand feast on a sweet note, Cube Catering  also features Eggnog Ice Cream in their holiday special - perfect for all ages! But if grandma isn’t into it, other cakes are available to order including Apple Pie and NY Cheesecake

Known as Jakarta’s Turkey Guy by his regulars, Chef Ivan Wibowo’s seasonal holiday menu at Cube Catering is available throughout December, with deliveries reaching to areas of Greater Jakarta. Order 2 days in advance and check prices via their Instagram.

2. Honest Kitchen

Planned to be elsewhere for the year end holidays? Cure that wanderlust by seeking a taste of the world with Honest Kitchen. Their seasonal menu ranges from the Italian-style Porchetta Roll with crispy crackling and salsa verde, the rich and creamy Indian Butter Chicken with cheese and butter naan, to the juicy Peruvian Whole Chicken with green sauce and butter rice that packs a punch.

The portions are best served for two so if you’re feeding more, we highly recommend doubling up or ordering something extra. Their loaded Vietnamese Summer Rolls are fresh and appetizing as starters, while their Ham & Cheese Garlic Bread is the solution for cheese-lovers.

All dishes are available à la carte style so you can pick and curate your celebratory feast. But since it is the holidays, why not go big on that Porchetta? You can request any weight for your roast pork belly but if you like things in small sizes, Honest Kitchen also does a Porchetta Sandwich. A next-day breakfast idea, perhaps?

Started from humble beginnings during this quarantine season by Chef Thea Delicia, Honest Kitchen requires a 3-day heads up for orders. Best delivered within the Greater Jakarta area. Special dishes vary per week so be sure to check their Instagram for prices and availability.

This holiday season, homemade Korean food specialist Doeun Kitchen is collaborating with fine foods caterer Olives & Jill for a Christmas with Friends special. It’s healthy, it’s tasty and it’s sharing-friendly. Suitable for groups of twelve, the collab offers two different set menus which feature guilt-free feasts titled The Noel and The Tinsel.

It’s not easy to pick between the set menus, but The Noel is the best choice for those seeking for something leaner. While the Christmas Wreath salad might be too pretty to devour, be sure to take a piece of their Kimchi Mozzarella Pancake. Served as mains is the classic Roast Chicken and Vegetables and also the Steamed Pork with their umami-filled Jalapeno Doenjang sauce.

For The Tinsel, everyone can get a taste of the mini Shakshuka Baked Eggs, along with Potato Pancake with Wasabi Cream Cheese as starters. You also might want to get ready for a finger-licking good feast ahead as the mains on this one are the lip smacking Whiskey BBQ Baby Back Ribs and Galbi Jjim-style Braised Beef Short Ribs.

Behind Doeun Kitchen is Chef Doeun Kim, a firm believer in healthy food for all. Their Christmas with Friends menu is available throughout December but make sure you order at least 2 days ahead. Check their Instagram for delivery areas, prices and more.

If it’s just you and a loved one on this special time of the year, Chikari has three different specials for you to choose from: Cozy Christmas, Holly Jolly and Warm Winter. All are ideal size for two, making it the go-to for any duo seeking for a magical, intimate dinner.

The star dish of Chikari’s Cozy Christmas and Holly Jolly sets is the Lemon Rosemary Whole Chicken. A crowd favorite, the roast chicken garnered its popularity due to its aromatic and tangy lemon rosemary gravy. Don’t be shy to slab it all over that chicken or even on the Roasted Potato sides.

Warm Winter’s aptly named set menu features Indian Butter Whole Chicken, Garlic Butter Rice and Butter Naan. The indulgently bold blend of curry and yogurt will leave a fulfilling taste and go so well with a great bottle of wine. Make sure you leave some tummy space for their sweet Mango Lassi goodness.

Chikari was born in quarantine by homecooks Brian Wirjaputra and Jane Lorens. They follow a strict motto of Happiness is Homemade which helped gain popularity all the way to city folks of Palembang. Holiday specials are available until 5 January 2021, but be sure to check their Instagram for more info.
