Joo Chiat Kim Choo

Savour heritage-rich, fragrant rice dumplings with Joo Chiat Kim Choo! Passed down through generations, these handmade Emperor Dumplings (S$15.80) are stuffed with luxurious fillings like umami dried scallops, chinese sausage (lup cheong), golden egg yolks, gingko nuts, roasted chestnuts, shiitake mushrooms and braised pork, all wrapped in fragrant bamboo leaves. 

Looking for unique seasonal dumplings instead? They have Hakka Pork Belly with Preserved Vegetables Rice Dumpling and Pulut Hitam Nonya Rice Dumpling. Looking for rice dumplings to give this Dragon Boat festival season? Check out Thye Moh Chan, BreadTalk and Toast Box’s irresistible Teochew bak changs! With two flavours available this year, their Teochew Double Delight Bak Chang (S$6.50) and Teochew Salted Egg Bak Chang (S$6.50) are meticulously hand wrapped in bamboo leaves and takes over two and a half hours to prepare. 

Expect each plump Double Delight Bak Change to be filled with succulent pork belly, braised shiitake mushroom with five-spice powder, pepper, coriander powder and a touch of tau sar filling to balance the flavour. Their Salted Egg Bak Chang offers a familiar comfort with pork belly, fried dried shrimp, chestnut and a salted egg.
